RESOURCES
In collaboration with Island Health’s Healthy Schools Program, six VYMHC members had the opportunity to create a youth wellness campaign that uses posters with positive, accessible, relatable information to encourage youth to connect with low-cost and confidential community healthcare services. The poster lists resources for five main categories (general mental health, general substance use, cannabis use, nicotine use, opiate use), however our online directory provides a list of dozens more specialized, intersectional resources, such as those specifically for BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ youth. All of our resources offered have been tested and reviewed by VYMHC members as to ensure they are accessible, confidential, and free. Only the best resources made the cut.
Too often, posters intending to support youth are patronizing and insensitive. The goal of this project was to create a poster for youth, by youth, and it was an enormous success.
